By the Scarizona Scaregrounds crew, a Mesa haunt operator · Updated September 2026 · 6 min read

We run one of the four haunts compared on this page, so we are naming that bias in the first paragraph rather than the last. What follows is a plain, side-by-side look at Scarizona and three other real Phoenix-area haunts, with nothing invented about anyone’s dates or prices. If the season’s whole calendar is what you need, our Halloween events guide covers the family outings too.

By the Numbers

What This Comparison Covers

Real Phoenix-area haunted attractions, side by side in one table.
Mayhem in Madness, Startled Darkness, and Dr. Death’s Haunted ICU on a single Scarizona ticket.
Every Scarizona ticket includes free parking at the Thompson Event Center.
The Scare Factor named Scarizona’s cast the Southwest’s highest rated (9.0/10 cast score).

Why a Comparison, Not a Ranking

Four Haunts, Laid Out the Same Way

A haunt operator scoring its own rivals out of ten is not a scale you should trust, so this page does not do that. Instead, the four haunts below get the same treatment: the same columns, the same honest paragraph, and the same instruction to confirm dates and prices at the source. Scarizona sits in that table too, because leaving ourselves out of a Phoenix comparison we built would be its own kind of dishonest.

The Long Version

Each Haunt, in Its Own Words

The table above is the fast version. Here is the honest paragraph behind each row, in the same order, with no quality ranking implied.

Mesa, AZ Outdoor

Scarizona Scaregrounds (Our Haunt, Disclosed)

This is our own haunt in Mesa, and we say so plainly. Three separately built walk-through sets, Mayhem in Madness, Startled Darkness, and Dr. Death’s Haunted ICU, run on one General Admission ticket, outdoors and after dark, with free parking included. The cast stays in character all night, and The Scare Factor named it the 2024 Highest Rated Cast in the Southwest.

Phoenix, AZ (West Valley) Outdoor

Fear Farm

A West Valley haunt off West 99th Avenue with multiple haunted houses and a haunted corn maze on the same outdoor grounds. It is the biggest single footprint on this list, built for a full night of walking between attractions rather than one continuous show. Confirm current hours and pricing on their own site.

Phoenix, AZ Indoor

13th Floor Haunted House

An indoor, climate-controlled haunt on West Bell Road, part of a national chain with a deep menu of add-on upgrades. It is the only indoor option in this comparison, which matters on a night the desert refuses to cool off. Confirm current hours, add-ons, and pricing on their own site.

Mesa, AZ Verify on site

Sanctum of Horror

A family-owned Mesa haunt, and the closest true head-to-head neighbor to us on this list, same city, same season. Two walk-through mazes, Sanctum of Horror and The Breach, run the core scare season, and a separate scareless, actorless daytime walkthrough gives younger kids a way in without the frights. Confirm current hours and pricing on their own site.

Where We Actually Stand Out

Four Things That Are True About Us

We are not claiming to beat every haunt on this page at everything. Here is what we can back up about our own show, plainly, the same way the table above treats everyone else.

  • Three haunts, one price. Mayhem in Madness, Startled Darkness, and Dr. Death’s Haunted ICU all run on a single General Admission ticket, with no per-house upcharge.
  • Outdoor, after dark. The whole show runs outside in Mesa once the desert has gone dark, on dirt and gravel, not inside a building.
  • Free parking. Parking is included with every ticket at the Thompson Event Center.
  • An award-winning in-house cast. The Scare Factor named Scarizona the 2024 Highest Rated Cast in the Southwest, scoring the cast 9.0 out of 10 and the show 8.35 out of 10 overall.

On Third-Party Dates and Prices

We do not print other venues’ 2026 dates or prices on this page, and we do not know them with certainty this far ahead of the season. Check each venue's official site for current details.

Decided on Mesa?

One price walks you through all three of our haunts, outdoors and after dark, with free parking included. Timed entry means the busiest nights sell out first.
